Seagate employees past and present only! - all other messages will be deleted
| Janice
Tyree passed away Monday, December 4th. Cause of death is unknown at this
time, but will be posted if possible. Janice worked in various areas of
Seagate for over 20 years. She worked overtime to enjoy her trips to Hawaii
many times. She will be missed by her many friends, but mostly by those
on C shift. Wow, lots
of familar names on here. I left Seagate OKC in late 1998 after 11 years,
for greener pastures in New Zealand; still there today. Email me at brian.d.myers@gmail.com
and/or check out my new myspace page here : http://www.myspace.com/nzbrian Dearest Seagate pals, Hi! Since Sept. 15, 2006, I've been working at The Boeing Company in public relations in the greater Seattle area. Fantastic job and opportunity, but of course, you guys are always near and dear to my heart! Tough decision to leave Oklahoma because of all of our friends and family there, but John and I adjusting to the new climate and challenges of the Pacific Northwest. Absolutely beautiful place! We'd love to hear from you! My e-mail is kevanparker2002@yahoo.com. Drop me a line and let me know how you are! Oh yeah, The Boeing Company seems to be hiring engineers, so you might check out their job opportunities online! Other good news, one of my former employees at Seagate, Gabriela Guardia, and her husband, Rene, just had a baby boy, Lucas! They live in Texas now. God is good! God bless! What a year
2006 has been! In December, 2005, I got caught in the layoff of 7100 people
at Ford Motor Company. After six months of looking in Detroit, I sold
my house in Michigan, accepted a new job in Ohio, saw my Michigan unemployment
benefits run out on a Friday, and started the new job the next Monday
... all in the month of June. I now work for Goodrich Corporation where
we make wheels and brakes for commercial airliners. If you fly, chances
are good it's Goodrich wheels you are landing on. Business is good with
our best airline customers in the Pacific Rim. But what makes this job
so much nicer than Ford is that it is much more like Seagate. The folks
here are much friendlier except for this "buckeye" thing that
seems to be everywhere. Oh, well! I think one reason they like me so much
is because I told them I went to OSU! As good as it is, though, it'll
never be Seagate in Oklahoma City!
Time again
for our quarterly dinner together at Hometown Buffet. It is Thursday evening
- Oct. 12 anytime after 6 P.M. We meet at the Hometown Buffet on Northwest
Expressway just west of Portland. Come one - come all. Beat the heat and
eat in the air conditioning - sound like a commercial? Call all of our
Seagate buddies and have a big crowd. It is with
deep regret that we inform you of the passing of Seagate employee Earon
"Butch" Smith . Butch passed away on Sunday, September 24th.
Butch loved fishing, camping and old cars. His family was his greatest
enjoyment, especially his grandchildren whom so fondly called him "
Poppy " Services will be held 10:00 am Wednesday September 27th,
2006 at Sunset Memorial Chapel 2310 E. Indian Hills Road, Norman OK Just wanted
to pass along that Butch ( Aaran ) Smith is in the hospital again. I know
he would love to hear from or see any of the old group. If you get a chance,
he is in the Integris South Hospital SW 44th & Western, RM 427 or
the number at the hospital is 405-644-6427. We just received
word that Anthony "Tony" Albano passed away suddenly on Sunday,
September 3, 2006. He was at his lake home at Lake Eufala. They believe
it was a heart attack and he died in his sleep. The funeral arrangement
will be Friday, September 9, 2006 at 10:00am at the Baggerley Funeral
Home located at 13313 N. Kelly (north of NW 122nd & Kelly). The viewing
will be Thursday, September 8th until 9:00pm. Our prayers go out to his
son, Anthony and his nephew (former employee) Leland Tate, along with
the rest of his family and friends. Tony will surely be missed! We are looking
for someone to fill a buyer/planner position in the materials organization.
We are building PCBA's and RAID storage units. If you or someone else
is interested, send a resume to me at jack.hayes@hitachiomd.com Hello, my
name is Ron Heatherly, I worked for G.E. starting in 1969, soon after
returning from Viet Nam, and worked there till 1979, and went to work
for a local Chrysler dealership. I was away from this company for about
14 months and was fortunate to be able to come back, and put in another
nearly 5 years before being laid off. I think back of those years as some
of the best in my working life. I worked in Production/Invertory control
most of my time there and for a while was a trainer for an in-house system
called COSMIC. Hello everyone!
As I mentioned in a previous email, I started working for Lockheed Martin
located at the FAA in April. We have filled a couple of our positions,
but we still have several openings: a part-time (20 hrs/wk) Mid Level
Database Mgr/Information Specialist (requires an Associates in IT &
5 years of related experience), a full-time Sr Level LAN/WAN Administrator
(requires an Associates in IT & 10 years of related experience), two
more full-time Mid Level Program Analysts (to work on a Technical Helpdesk
& requires an Associates in IT & 5 years of help desk experience),
and a full-time Mid Level Java 2 Enterprise Edition Applications Developer
(requires an Associates in IT & 5 years of Computer Systems Engrg
experience). In most cases, work experience is counted in lieu of a degree.
Please email me your resume at beth.ctr.clements@faa.gov
if you are interested. LM has a referral program, and I will do referrals
for those that I know, but I will need a soft copy of a resume to post
(prior to it being posted by the applicant on any of LM job sites) and
I can refer others to the correct website to post for these positions.
There are quite a few of us former Seagaters at the FAA, so I feel right
at home here. I look forward to hearing from some of you. We need help!
Looking for a part time soldering trainer. Ideal for retired person. If
anyone is interested, remembers anybody that might be interested or remembers
those that did soldering, let me know. Send me an email at: jack.hayes@hitachiomd.com,
or call me at 573-1263. I heard about
Commodore but not Ross. Sorry for his family. Where is everyone going.
I guess Seagate held us together. Sharon, how are you doing these days.
Mike King and I say Hi, too you. My name is Lynda King (Hodson). We live
in Yukon but don't know where you live. We could be neighbors and not
know it. I am working for a company called Universal Compression on 10th
street off of Mustang road. Mike is working for Climate Master on 44th
street. Give us a holler some time. For all the rest of the Seagate people
thank you for the 14yrs of work and fun we had together. It is with
deep regret that we inform you of the passing of Seagate employee Sunil
Mehta. Sunil passed away on Thursday, July 13th. Sunil
began working for Seagate in Oklahoma City on February 24, 2003 following
the completion of a successful internship that began in May of 2002. Sunil
received the degree of Master of Science/Computer Science from Oklahoma
State University in May of 2003. He transferred to Longmont on January
19, 2004 where he held the position of Senior Software Engineer reporting
to Sean Dykstra. Sunil was a valued and respected employee and will be
greatly missed. Our deepest sympathies and condolences are with Mr. Mehta's
spouse, friends and family during this difficult time. Hello everyone!

And what about the Warr Acres Starbuck's! "It's Wonderful Living in Warr Acres!" Yes, we will miss Commodore Jones and Ross Stark. Sorry I couldn't get to their funerals. Glad to get Vicki & Steve Eckerd back. We wish the best to Debbie Byers in her new career. Have a safe and happy 4th! Regards to all, John & Mayor Marietta Marietta Tardibono<MimiTardi@aol.com> Warr Acres, OK USA Monday June 26, 2006 00:31:50 Hi to all.... it's been way to long since I've been on this site. I have good news (at least we think so). Steve has decided to retire on 07-07 and we are headin' "home" the following week. We've enjoyed the Minnesota summers but the winters are way too long for Steve (and I) to go without GOLF !!! Anyway, they are having a little gathering in Shakopee on 6-29 and I thought if anyone had any stories or photos during his 39 years that should be told or seen please let me know. I'll forward them to Roy Wood. I don't think Steve will look here so maybe I can stay out of trouble !! Can't wait to be back to what we consider God's real country, to be "retired" and able to participate in the Crescent Society gatherings. We miss all y'all !! Vicki Eckerd<eckerd_s@msn.com> Shakopee to Edmond finally!, MN to OK USA Friday June 23, 2006 15:00:54 After reading about Commodore, I can not help but expect an message from Ross talking about how our family is getting smaller. It sure is. Let's do a better job of keeping in touch. Commodore was at our quarterly get together in January of this year. Hard to imagine that he is gone as well as Ross. Saw Vinoth Daniel at Incredible Pizza on Saturday. One of the best things that has happened to Warr Acres - right Marietta? If anyone knows of any job openings for Vinoth, drop me a line. He did make it back to Oklahoma though the day before. Keith also said he would post more information as it becomes available. Michelle Haines , USA Friday May 12, 2006 23:02:53 Got this from Ross Stark's daughter yesterday-doesn't sound too good for Ross: We decided against surgery and we are going with Hospice. We could not take the chance for surgery and him survive it and be on a ventilator the rest of his life. The Dr in Houston told us straight up. It would be one complication after anotther......My father needs to die with dignity and respect and not on a breathing machine. I have spent the last week with my father and he will not get better. We are just hoping that his death will be painless and swift. It is all up to God. Please keep us in your prayers. We are trying to fly him home to die in Oklahoma. We have tried everything and I cry when I think that I will never get an email from him, ever again.......or I just cry for me. I know tha the will be in heaven. Christy Jack Hayes<hayesjack@hotmail.com> OKC, OK USA Wednesday May 10, 2006 18:19:21 Has anybody heard how Ross Stark is doing? He has an aneurysm on his aorta again and it is really big. They don't think he is in any condition to operate, and since that is the only cure, we don't have much hope. I just wanted to let you know. Please keep him in your prayers and if there is anyone else you think might want to know, please pass it on." As you may know Tom had been struggling with Diabetes and Kidney issues for several years. All I know is he was having problems with circulation in his foot, he fell this weekend and broke his shoulder and while at the hospital he passed away. Michelle Haines , USA Tuesday April 11, 2006 14:42:07 IN case anyone is interested, Oklahoma City Seagate has posted some new position in IT, HelpDesk and a couple of other positions. XXXX Oklahoma City, OK USA Wednesday April 05, 2006 17:51:01 Wanted to pass along that Paul Johnson passed away on Thursday. Sharon Nicholson<nichkatn@netscape.net> Del City, OK USA Friday March 24, 2006 13:25:57 I noticed in the paper where Loren Skarkey passed. He worked in engineering for about 30 years. Our group keeps getting smaller each day. It is sad to see the empty parking lot when driving by the plant. I am disappointed in the small amount of usage on this site. I guess that everyone is too busy to keep in touch. Ross Stark<starkr2@hotmail.com> Yukon, Ok USA Wednesday March 22, 2006 17:00:59 Many of you may have not known Charles Foley. He worked in our Toolroom for many years, he left Seagate around 2000. Charles died late February, some of us "old" toolmakers attended his funeral March 2nd. He was one of the first persons I met after arriving in Oklahoma from across the pond and we were friends ever since 1957. Auf Widersehen, Charles. Matt Matt Jung<mpjung5125@yahoo.com> , USA Monday March 20, 2006 00:52:21 A huge Thank You to Michelle for cleaning the site of all the spam. I am a frequent visitor and it is always nice to see a clean message board. Benny Whaley , USA Tuesday March 14, 2006 02:16:25 For those of you who don't remember me, I was Angel Soriano's admin before the layoff of Quality in July '01. I picked up OK roots and moved to Kentucky to be closer to my two daughters and two grandsons. It is beautiful here and I love it. Have not worked since being layed off and love that also. Hello, Michelle. Jadean Murray Hebron, KY USA Wednesday March 08, 2006 01:29:27 Hello everyone....I enjoy catching up with those who had posted messages on this site. I saw lots of familiar names and see that we have lost several since I was here last. On another note....have any of you started getting telemarketing call on your cell phones yet? I have and could not figure out why....until I learned that cell phone numbers are now being released to telemarketing companies. Can you believe this? But there is a way to combat this and it is by registering on the Federal Trade Commission's Cell Phone Do Not Call Registry. All you have to do is use your cell phone to call 888.382.1222 and follow the directions - this adds the cell number to this registry for 5 years. Also, there is a website if you prefer to register several numbers at once. It is http://www.donotcall.gov/ If you use the website, be aware that will get a confirmation email that you must respond to within a specified amount of time...so if you don't check your email very often, don't use this method. Just to be on the safe side, I did both. I hope this info is considered helpful and not SPAM .....I would not provide it if I was not sure that it was accurate. I hope to hear from some of you. Take care.... Beth Clements <bethclements@cox.net> Bethany, OK USA - Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at 02:37:23 (GMT) Hi everyone.
