2004

Happy Holidays. Hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas and is looking forward to a Wonderful New Year!! Thanks Michelle for all you have done to keep this site alive and clean. I know it is not easy. To those of you who knew about my job layoff scare - I want you to know that I survived. I am STILL working for Boeing at Tinker and loving it. Larry and I moved to Del City in August to be closer to work but I got a 60-day layoff notice in September. In November just a week before I was to be laid off, they decided to keep 3 of us and I was fortunate enough to make the cut. I also want to remind everyone of our quarterly dinner at the Hometown Buffet on the Northwest Expressway on January 20th. Let's start the New Year right and celebrate together. See you then. Sharon Nicholson

Happy New Year to everyone! If any one has any information on the Guys from the Machine Shop let me know. Hope everyone is okay and doing well. My family and I are doing good. Still working at Tinker and having fun.

Happy Holidays to everyone! Hope everyone is okay and doing well. As for me and mine, we're just fine. Still working for a title & abstract company. Moved back to OKC after 9 years of country living. It's good to be back. Best wishes to all past & present Seagaters for a prosperous New Year!

First of all Merry Christmas to all!! Second is that I changed the name of this page, hopefully this will weed out spam for a while. We may have to go back to a password protection site of a different message board. Will keep everyone updated.

Hi, My name is Mike Touchstone. I worked at Customer Service as a technician and a 3rd shift manager from 1989 till 12/96. This is the first I've learned about this website. I'm working as an equipment maintainance technician at Seagate Recording Heads in Bloomington. I was an eng.tech and worked for Sam Phillips and Terry Church in OKC. I have many fond memories of friends and good times in OKC. OKC was the most fun I have had in the 24 years I have been with Seagate. Sadly, I heard this morning about the passing of our dear friend John Potter. Too late for me to attend the funeral which I heard is today. John was always a cheerful and helpful friend. I saw him this last summer when we were visiting friends in OKC. I got to play one last game of PIG over at Sammies. I will miss him. I will try to gather job information from RHO and post it here now that I know this site is here. I know there are some postings right now. Any questions e-mail me. Regards-->Mike

! I'm at 3M in St Paul. Its a good place to be considering my involvement in other not-to-great situations over the past 5 years. It's been 23 years since I've been in really frigid country, and I've got concerns. The first of course is freezing tail while pumping gas, and the next is my truck's doorlocks which froze often at night in Okla while I delivered pharmaceuticals until the early morning hours. A 3Mer (as a contracter, I'm not one) told me to try generous amounts of silicone oil. Fortunately my rent pays for underground parking which I'm thinking will be half the battle. At 3m I'm doing iso9K docs and plan to buy shock machine in January. I met a Seagater on the way to Okla and he said iso9K has pretty much been forgotten or at least ignored. Wonder if that's true, wouldn't horribly surprising. I do have some extra time on hand, but premium channel cable takes care of some of that. I like to hear from other Seagaters.

Hi Folks, In my new position as an industrial coordinator for Francis Tuttle, I work to arrange customized training to businesses in OKC. Currently I am working to identify technical tradespeople who have done some training in the past who might be interested in teaching an occasional class as the need arises. Areas that have already come up in the three weeks that I have been here are electric print reading, hydraulic print reading, soldering, welding, PLC programming, HVAC code update, electrical code update, and machining. Since the number of classes that a person would teach would depend on customer demand (meaning that they could be few and far between), this might be best for retirees or those of you that are independently wealthy:), but I will let you make that call. I just wanted to point out that this is not a full-time position. Please shoot me an e-mail with a current resume if you have any interest. Feel free to pass this on to non-Seagaters if you know of anyone that would fill the need. Thanks for your time! Howdy to all my old Seagate friends! I miss you guys! Anyone remember the cute secretary that used to work the front offices around 1979 / 1980??? One year, Lowell Yandell dressed as Santa and she was in an elf costume handing out candy canes. The last place I remember her working was in the training department. She was so nice to me & was always smiling. I'd love to know her name, what happened to her, and how she is doing. Thanks.

Hey guys these spammers seem to be getting bolder each day in posting their stuff on this website. How about just using their addresses and forwarding all the junk mail that each of us get to them each day and giving them a taste of their own medicine. They just might get the message or else just call up their website and fill it up with lots of junk that they have to sort through.

DAVID TIERCE - MATERIALS 101 - Just a not to OKC Friends, that my husband David has been in and out of the hospital for the last 3 months. They removed a 1 1/2 lb. tummor from his chest May 20 he did very well, until the hospital overdosed him, and that created the second surgery on June 7, to repair his herinated colon, his tummy had relocated and was pushing on his heart, so they had to put mesh on everything and sew him up. He started Cemo treatments on July 6th fro Bone Cancer and did very good, we go back in the hospital Aug. 3 for the second set of Cemo treatment. We will finish the Cemo treatment in Nov. So if you can't find us at home, were at the hospital. David & I did go to the Keep In Touch dinner last week, was so good to see everyone. If you have never been you need to go, lost of fun. As usual we had a wonderful turn-out for our quarterly get together. We had over 50 people attend - including the Mayor of Warr Acres. We always have a few people who have never been before - this time Larry Gentry was one of those who dropped in to see us. We now wear name tags - very helpful for those of us who have reached an age where we have a good excuse for not remembering names; and we should maybe keep a roster of who attended. We all have moved on to new experiences and positions, but we will always be part of the Seagate family. We have set the date for our next dinner - October 21 - same place. Vernon - I am sorry we did not mention in our last message which Hometown we gather at. It is the Hometown Buffet on the NW Expressway west of Portland. Hope to see more of you there in October. Sharon Nicholson

I had planned on attending this most recent quarterly gathering at Hometown Buffet, but realized the day of that I couldn't find posted which Hometown Buffet it was. I hope things are going well for the wonderful people I used to work with.

Sorry I did not get a Hometown Buffet recap posted in April after our last Seagate dinner. We had a great time and saw some new faces, which is always fun. Probably had over 50 people in attendance. We have moved into one of the bigger dining areas to accommodate all of us. We are planning another one, of course. This time for July 22. Hope to see all of you there - as well as the newly separated Seagaters.

Hello to everyone. I just found out about this website and have been reading the messages from all my friends from years past. Glad to hear all the joy and success that have followed your days at Seagate, Imprimis or whatever the name was at the time. My last day will be July 2 and will be something that I'm actually looking forward to. Semi-retirement looks very good to me. I have a small farm with many animals and will have plenty to do; however, I may seek some part-time employment as a means of putting some beans on the table. Again, hello and my best wishes to everyone!

To all, So many names I recognize. I left Seagate in Jan 98 and moved to Portland Oregon. I sure do miss my Seagate friends though. If you remember me, drop me a line. I'd like to keep in touch with my old friends. Good luck to you all in your ventures.

I would like to get in touch with Jim English, former Seagate employee. Does anyone know Jim's whereabouts? Thanks

I have an opening in my department for a field quality manager with six sigma experience. Send your resume to me soon if interested. Hope everyone is doing well!

I had lost the address for the website so I was behind on everything. It seems the world is changing for everyone. As I went on disability a couple months before the big layoff of 2003, I didn't get contact information for many of the people I worked with. I hope the spring is finding everyone in a good place.

Hey everybody, I am looking for people with a background in the following area. Material Coordinator and Material Expediter. Send resumes to earl.welsh@expresspersonnel.com Thanks

For those still seeking jobs, like myself, there will be a job fair on Friday, May 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Reed Center located at 5800 Will Rogers Road, MWC (I-40 & Sooner Rd). There hasn't been much publicity on this due to Workforce Oklahoma's limited budget. The only further information that I can get is that there will be 72 employers represented from a broad spectrum of industry. They do not have a published list of participants (I asked), but was told that some will be hiring on the spot. My take is that there will be a number of service related jobs. Best wishes to you all who are still looking!

Hello to everyone. I just found out recently about this site and was very pleased to see everyone keeping in touch. For those of you who do not know me or remember me, I started at seagate in 1987 at Building #5 as a debug tech. working for Walt Johnson and then moved to building #4 until about the end of 1988, I was then hired to work for Dennis Seawald and Chatrue Mohinani as an engineering Tech. I made many good friends during my time there and loved my job. I attended the last get together at the Hometown Buffet (4-22-04), It was great to see some familiar faces. I missed you guys and would love to hear from you all again. Feel free to e-mail me any time ( postman3567@yahoo.com )

Hi all! I am trying to find a woman that worked at Seagate until the early-to-mid 1990s. I can't remember her name, but I do remember that she and her husband were trying to get pregnant, and then when they finally did they had 6 or 7 babies! This has nothing to do with why I'm looking for her - but it might help trigger your memory. Does any one know her name or where I can find her? If so, please send me an email. Thanks.

Hello to all of you Ex-Seagaters. Hope all is well with everyone and your families. I have been working at McCubbin Hosiery in downtown OKC every since I left Seagate in Dec. 2002. In March of 2003 I met my soulmate, and we married Dec. 20th, 2003. He's been on the OKC Police Dept. for 15 years, and is an Investigator assigned to the Secret Service Crimes Task Force. We moved to Earlsboro, OK. in Jan., and commute to the city together almost everyday. We bought an acreage there and Don Mikish is now my neighbor (about 3 miles down the road). Funny how things turn out, but God has been watching over my daughter and I. Glad to read about so many of you doing well and finding jobs that make you happy. God Bless, Sherry Pennington (aka, Sprinkle)

Hello, I just wanted to check in and say hi. My last day with Seagate will be either the end of this month or about two months later. I will know soon!!! There have been MANY good memories of the people I have worked with over the 25 years with MPI/Control Data/Imprimus/Seagate. I want to thank all those that helped me along the way. There were many of you that helped me or influenced me in some way. Hopefully I had a positive influence on some of you as well. It will be fun to reflect on the "good ole days", but it will also be good to look ahead to the future and what can be made of it. I don't expect it to be any less than what the past was. Thanks and a good future to you, Thomas Kiene

Dear Friends and Co-Workers, It's that time of year again! Time to get ready for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation WALK TO CURE DIABETES on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at the OKC Zoo. With your support, we hope that children with diabetes will soon be able to enjoy happy, active, normal lives. Children with Type 1 diabetes are insulin-dependent for life; they will not outgrow juvenile diabetes. Children with Type 1 diabetes and their families are in a constant struggle to manage blood-sugar levels with six or more daily finger pricks to test blood, at least two shots of insulin a day, and careful monitoring of exercise and food intake. This is not a cure -- it only allows a child to stay alive! In addition to a drastic reduction in quality of life and an average life span shortened by 15 years, diabetes carries the life-long threat of other devastating complications such as kidney failure, blindness, amputation, heart attack, and stroke. Thanks to the continuous generosity of family and friends like you, a cure is closer than ever. There are several ways you can help us make a difference for everyone living with diabetes: You can join the Seagate Walk team, which consists of employees, their family and friends who collect pledges and walk with us. You can register online at http://walk.jdrf.org/register.cfm?id=85757390. Select Seagate as team name and me, Debi McHone, as team captain. Or, you can send to me a tax-deductible contribution of any amount, made payable to JDRF or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation by May 19, 2004 to P.O. Box 326, Cashion, OK 73016. Or, you can support me by submitting your donation online at http://walk.jdrf.org/support.cfm?id=85757390 by May 19, 2004. Last year, our team raised $7,124. We plan to exceed that total this year with your help. In a typical year, 85% of JDRF's expenses support research and education about research, earning an A rating for efficiency from the American Institute of Philanthropy. Thank you so much in advance for your generosity. Please let me know if you have any questions. With Sincere Thanks,
Debi McHone <kksgrammy@msn.com>

Still have a job open for a programmer. I must add this job does not pay the kind of money that Seagate offered.
