Hi! I don't know how many of you remember me, but I worked in QA for A Soriano. August 28th, We finally completed my Worker's Comp Suit. For those of you who remember, I took a fall in my office on June 20, 2001, Yes, one month before we were RIF'd! Found out I was hurt much worse than WC clinic diagnosed. Broken bones and knee surgery (have one more surgery to go). I am now looking to go back to go back to work. I do have permanent partial disability. Decent settlement!!! Happy Holidays to you all. I miss the friends I made in the 5+ years I worked at Seagate. May you all be blessed.

Well it has been just about a year and a half since i was last employed but I will be completing my MBA in 2 weeks and have started looking into employment opportunities. Unfortunately the Oklahoma City market seems to be shrinking daily and the number of people seeking employment growing. If anyone knows of any positions available for a manufacturing technician trying to move into a management position let me know. If things don't start looking up I may look toward Texas or North Carolina but I would sure miss seeing a lot of the old Seagate family. I run into many ex-Seagate employees that are still seeking employment or completing an educational quest. Thanksgiving is about here and I hope that many of these people obtain employment or complete their quest and can enjoy and be giving thanks during these trying times.

Two years gone from Seagate and things are well. The foilage here in Michigan is incredible and Fall is in the air. Things are going good, if not for Ford, at least for me here at Ford. I have learned that, while life in Oklahoma is slower paced and pleasant, life for an Okie living outside of the state can be great fun! Folks here love to hear my accent. (I didn't know I had one!) I also love to tease them about their football and brag about the Sooners, even though I went to OSU. My older son is now teaching CAD tools to Ford employees for Michigan Tech and my younger son is living and working in Brooklyn, NY, right across from Manhattan, and is having a blast. Our drive to see him is now only 9 hours instead of 27 hours. Keeping busy, but I'll always miss the old place and the friendly faces. Having this website sure helps me keep up-to-date. Best to all!

Hello everyone, I just heard about this web site from Marty Blazey. Thought it would be a hoot to sign up. Leah and I are R.V.ing around the U.S.A. and reallty enjoying the country side and places of interest. We have adapted well to retirement and the idea of a lot to do--but no real demand schedule for completing most of it. Still bump in to many of the "Work Family" around town and renew memories and "what's happening". Yes, Seagate and the prior companies it was, and became, was and is a special place to work because of the special quality of the folks that were there. "KEEPINTOUCHOK" is just a fine idea. To all that knew him, Dick McCune who managed the shipping area in Building 4 for so many years has passed away. Dick was fun to work with. There is a great number of us who went to Smith & Nephew after leaving Seagate. For those who did not get hired, you didn't miss much. The work is easy, but the management & benefits SUCK. The pay is just enough to keep the bills paid and our heads above water (kind of a mixed blessing). I guess you all know that the only way to get a good job in this town is to know somebody. The last good place I heard was Farmers Insurance in Shepard Mall. A person hired there last year at entry level is over $14 an hour now. Any others???

Hello everyone, This is the first I have visited this site since it was created. It was most enjoyable reading everyones postings. Brings back a lot of memories (good ones!). I was initially laid off in October of 2001. Too much surprise, I went back to work in Febraury of 2002 in IT/Computer operations. I was offered a contracters position with Dayton Tire of OKC so I resigned my position at Seagate and left again. This time on my own decision. That was even more surprising to some of the people who were left. It was quite different taking a walk of 101 test floor for the last time. It just wasn't the same. I sure miss everyone. I enjoy seeing people in public I use to see at Seagate. For those who know I have my own business. It is slow, but doing well. Definitely in a positive direction. Still working on long term goals of making movies. I've been producing tv commercials for a while now. Like most have found out, there is life after the Seagate RIF. Most have found a better life. Just a word of advice for anyone terminating/terminated with Seagate and going on COBRA...don't assume this process works. Once your COBRA should be effective, contact your insurance carriers to verify coverage. Don't wait until the day you need to go to the doctor, dentist, or pharmacy to find out you fell through the cracks in the maze of all the players involved in this mess. Also, when the new calendar year rolls around, amazingly, your coverage can lapse...even if you dutifully follow all the directions sent to you with your enrollment package. We have had this happen to us three separate times. Hopefully, this heads up can save you the hassle and wasted time on the phone trying to straighten out something that never should have gone awry in the first place.

Hi Guys, I hope that everyone (those of you hanging on and those of you not) is doing well as life continues to tick away. I was very fortunate after Seagate. I got an excellent job as a Production Leader at Owens Corning in Amarillo, Texas. The leadership is great. You know how all the books talk about empowerment and engagement of the employees? The leadership in this case very much believes that, to the point that the most significant thing that the leadership expects of me is to spend a majority of my time with my 120+ employees talking with them, engaging them, taking care of their needs, answering their questions, etcetera. If I chose to be a desk-hugger I most likely would be fired. That's how serious they are about engagement. I love this job, and based on the initial feedback I am getting, I am doing well so far. Trapper graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from OSU and is working for General Motors in Arlington, TX as a production supervisor. He is getting married to a very nice young lady early next year. Ben is two and a half and is keeping us very busy. His language is fluid, he is very active, and Denise does a very good job at keeping up with him. We are all homesick, but we will deal with that. All is well otherwise. I miss you guys! Kevin

The get together at the Hometown Buffet this last Thursday night was great. I only wished that more people had attended even at that we had about 30. It was great to see some of the people that I worked with at Seagate. It was good to get news of some of the people that I had lost track of. Lots of the people seem to be doing quite well after leaving Seagate. I was happy for them. I don't think that any place had a bunch of people that were as close and friendly as the bunch that worked at Seagate for so long. We just seemed to grow up together and raised our kids together and shared parenting experences together. I miss those days and the people that seemed to care for each other and were there for each other when we needed them.

I was contacted with the following: We are trying to get the word out that we are searching for an Electrical Engineer with web development experience. Specifically, our client deals with transformers and electric motors so they are looking for someone with experience with power equipment and some design exp too if they can get it. On the development side, they are requiring Java and C experience. They use MS SQL Svr now but will be moving to Oracle. Salary range depends on experience ($50k-$100k). Hi all. I have changed ISP's so my new E-mail address is listed below. After July 13th I concentrated on finishing my degree. I completed my BS in Business/Information Systems back in February. However, when I started focusing on job searching I found that my interests were not in business or IS. I want to find a job that is in high demand and would allow me to work anywhere in the USA (or world). The medical field seemed like a wise choice. So, I have applied to and been accepted into a Radiography program. I will start the full-time program this August. In two years I hope to be certified to take x-rays, CT scans, MRI's and other diagnostic procedures. It will be quite a change, but I am looking forward to the challenge.

Specifically, in the area of of import and export of information (training and technology) and materials (aircraft spare parts). Yes - June 27th is the day for all Seagate friends to come together. Whether you were laid off, kicked out, retired or even still employed, let's all meet at the Hometown Buffet at 6:00. Bring your spouses, significant others, children, friends or whoever with you. Those of you who read this message must call everyone that you would like to see there because there are fewer and fewer people getting to the web site to read it on their own. Some of us even have jobs. Yes, my job at Boeing came through and I have been there for three weeks now working at Tinker. I am loving it. We actually do the software for the weapons on the B-1B as well as radar, navigation, etc. Have not been out to see the plane yet, but that is scheduled for the near future. Kay Wilt's daughter, Christa, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on April 27, 2002 at 4:00 a.m. Her name is Alison Elizabeth and she weighed 7 lbs. 15 oz. and measured 21". Mom, Dad and baby are fine. Grandma Kay and Grandpa Steve are thrilled with the new addition to their family.

We all had such a good time the other night at the Hometown Buffet that we are thinking about doing it on a quarterly basis. We had over 40 people show up and we stayed and enjoyed each other company so much and so long that they almost had to kick us out of there. What does everyone think of a June 27th date? That would be three months from now and on a Thursday night. I would like some feedback about that date and then we can make it a firm plan. Keep in touch.

It was been great to have the time to enjoy both of them and watch them grow. I am currently babysitting for Gabe during the week. Just a few updates for those who might want to acknowledge the passing of several of our Seagate family members. Cecil Chubb, longtime Facilities employee, passed away in mid-January. The husband of Boots Guthery passed away suddenly. His services were this morning. John Tardibono's mother in Sicily went to meet the Lord today, just 2 weeks before her 93rd birthday. Our prayers are with all these family members.

Hi Everybody, Hey there is life after Seagate. The Lord blessed me with "my dream job." I am now the receptionist for the main headquarters for Avalon Correctional Services located right across Memorial from B7. We provide half way houses and programs for the State of OK. They called me for an interview and hired me on the spot. (I had no intention of going back to work but they made me an offer I could not refuse). I take care of 30 people (a far cry from the 3000 I interacted with!) but no voice mail so I screen every call. And the best is that they are starting me with what I was making when I left Seagate! Praise the Lord! So after a 3 month paid vacation (unemployment) I am now answering the Switchboard with "Thank you for calling Avalon, may I direct your call" (Sometimes I almost say Seagate!!!)
